Program Milo
Create (continued). This is Milo's starter program. Have students run it as-is first, then let them experiment with the settings — the motor can run in both directions, stop, turn at different speeds, and run for a chosen number of seconds.
Prompts while they tinker:
- What did you change in Milo's program, and how did it change the way he moved?
- Which block controls how fast? Which controls how long?
- What happens if you remove the stop block? Why?
Extension: add a sound block, or send students to the Code canvas to build their own program from scratch.
Share (10 min). Discuss science rovers and have each team take a photo of Milo and describe how Milo could help find a special plant.
Quick checks: can every student (a) connect motor & hub, (b) explain each block in the starter program, (c) modify one setting intentionally and predict the effect?
2. Program Milo.
This program turns the motor on at speed 8. It drives one way for 2 seconds, then stops.
You can start the motor in both directions, stop it, turn it at different speeds, and run it for any number of seconds.

What each block does
Try changing the number under a block in the Code canvas to see Milo move faster, slower, or further.
